If you have 3 days, I would strongly suggest you visit nearby areas first which are as amazing as Udaipur.
Ranakpur Jain Temple :
Its on the way towards Kumbhalgarh ( 90 odd KMs from Udaipur) one of the best Jain Temple in fact better than DILWARA. 1500 beautifully carved pillars. Serene, calm amidst Forrest.
Kumbhalgarh is 40-50 km from there.
NOT TO BE MISSED. It is open from 12 noon to 5 pm daily
Kumbhalgarh Fort :
I guess its the only unconquered fort till date in India.Strongly advised to hire a guide.
Breath taking view at night. Light and Sound is awesome.
Night Jungle Safari is also available
A Café is also there inside the fort
Most of the resorts are in 1-2 km radius of fort. They provide a packaged tour and accommodation if you ask them. Make sure to have a pickup from fort to resort after light and sound show.
Chk one beautiful resort : – The Aodhi at Kumbhalgarh
Places in Udaipur
CITY PALACE :
Entrance from Hanthi Pol (elephant gate), guides are available and take around 200 something
A complete tour will take around 2-3 hours and you won’t still be satisfied. Someone told me its longest palace of India, I am not sure though
Café is available inside the palace
Some really good restaurants and traditional shops are there on the road connecting the Hanthi Pol and Jagdish Mandir (visit this temple as well)
Ask anyone for the spot from where boat rides are available to Jag Mandir
Can take a boat ride in the lake if you want
Second Island Palace in Lake Pichola. It inspired Shah Jahan to build the Taj Mahal
A must see
Katy Perry got married here 😉
Has a restaurant/cafe – a good place for a coffee break
A must read blog : Highway to Rajasthan (Part IV) – Jag Mandir
Vintage collection of classic cars + Lunch in Garden Restaurant:
Awesome Collection of vintage cars. Cadillac, Chevrolet, Morris etc owned by the Maharanas of Udaipur.
The Cost of Rajasthani Thali is around 150-200 and one of the best in Udaipur. Serves till 2 pm, I guess (confirm it with taxi driver)
Photography is permitted.
There is park (Gulab Bagh) in front of it. Its good but can avoid it
Karni Mata Mandir and Ropeway ride
Another must see.
Awesome view of whole of WHITE City, Udaipur
There is an adjoining Dargah as well
Tea, snacks are available.
Sun set is breathtaking
Fateh Sagar + Saheliyon Ki Bari + Maharana Pratap Museum
There is no such place to sit beside the Fateh Sagar, no restaurant.
Its more like Husain Sagar lake of Hyderabad but its more beautifully lit up at night
Saheliyon ki bari and Maharan Paratap Museum beside the lake.
There is also a park beside the lake (forgot the name)(can be avoided)
Can Avoid it if you are tightly scheduled
Dinner at AMBRAI Restaurant
My personal favorite
Best part – Amazing view of city palace and Taj lake palace
